Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Clearfield, for Adam Baronak, 82, of 406 W. Locust St., Clearfield, who died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at James E. VanZandt Veterans Medical Center, Altoona.

The Rev. Michael G. Trimmer will officiate. Interment will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from noon until the hour of services.

Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of the Clearfield American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts honor squad.

Born Dec. 20, 1920, in Curwensville, he was a son of George and Mary (Smatlava) Baronak.

Mr. Baronak was an auto body repairman at several local garages and after that was owner/operator of Baronak's Paint and Body Shop.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield; and a life member of Michael Sicks Post No. 1785 VFW.

Mr. Baronak was a World War II veteran, having served in the American and Asiatic Pacific Theatres of Operations with the 59th Engineers Combat Co. from Oct. 5, 1940, to Feb. 2, 1945. He participated in both the New Guinea and the Northern Solomons Campaigns.

His military decorations and citations include the ATO Campaign Ribbon, APTO Campaign Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the American Defense Service Ribbon with metal clasp inscribed "Foreign Service."

On Oct. 20, 1945, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, he wed Elizabeth E. "Betty" (Eamigh) Baronak, who survives.

Also surviving is a daughter, Carol (Kupko) Ferranti of Clearfield; a son, William J. Baronak of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Baronak was the last of his immediate family, being preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Verna Ciprich, Margaret Kupko, Anna Kisko and Mary Snyder; and four brothers, John, Joseph, George and Thomas Baronak; and a son-in-law, Richard T. Ferranti.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 121 S. Second St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
