Informatio taken from his Civil War questionnaire, 1922:
James Harvey Hinson served in the Confederate Army during the Civil
War, in Company H, 10th Tennessee Regiment. He enlisted in Jan 1863,
at Bethel, Hickman Co. In his Civil War Quesionnaire, (dated 1922),
he stated that he was born in McNairy Co., TN, that his father was
Elijah Hinson, born "someplace in NC", mother, Evaline Davidson, who's mother was Sallie Davidson of Hickman Co., TN. He further stated " I do not know my grandparents [names]".
He said he followed farming as long as he was able to work, and lived
part of the time in Hickman county, and the balance in Perry county.
He served as Constable for nine years in Hickman county and was a
member of the Primitive Baptist church for nealry 50 years.
At one time he served as Magistrate for the 10th district in Hickman county.

James Harvey died at age 91 yrs, 11 mos, 12 dys, of broncho pneumonia; the informant on his death certificate was his 2nd wife, Mrs. Pocahontas (McCollum) Hinson.
