Evan James was a Revolutionary Soldier who served in the Virginia Battalion. He served from September 1, 1782 until May 5, 1783. He was buried on his family farm, which later became the site of the Old Westernport Mall (No longer standing). He was married to Ann Forman, who later migrated to Ohio with some of his children. His grave was remarked on April 9, 2022 by John Burnett and his son John Edward Burnett, members of the Washington PA Chapter of the SAR. Special Thanks to the late Mrs. Harriet Moore who was instrumental in providing the deed information.

The grave is between the CSX railroad tracks and the Potomac river. There is an old grove of trees nearby.
