Served as a Member of the House of Representatives, Columbia County in 1895. Florida State Library:

Military 2: Pension #3831 filed July 10, 1907 and approved December 21, 1901, $120 per annum.

Military service: August 1863, Camp Tatmall, 4th Georgia Calvary, captain John Rodolick (Reddick?)

James was the son of Washington Knowles and Nancy McDonald. He married Elizabeth Sandlin, daughter of Robert Sandlin and Zilphia Olivia Hicks.

He was my great great grandfather.
