Nobility, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. He was the youngest of the seven sons of Duke Anton Ulrich and Elisabeth Juliane von Holstein-Norburg. When he succeeded his brother August Wilhelm in 1731, he redeveloped the finances of the state and the duchy became debt free. He was married to Christine Luise of Oettingen. The couple had four daughters, one died only a month old. Two other were married into the houses Habsburg and Romanow, while the youngest, Antoinette Amalie, married her cousin Ferdinand Albrecht who succeeded Ludwig Rudolf.
