HAYS -- Edward D. "Eddie" Brungardt, 73, died Friday, March 25, 2011.
Survivors: wife, Betty; sons, Eddie F. Brungardt (fiance, Brenda Conner) and Ben Wheeler; daughters, Kaylene Balint and Karen Wellbrock (Chris); a brother; three sisters; mother-in-law, Mary Dreiling; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by: four brothers-in-law and father-in-law, Herbert F. "Herb" Dreiling.

Edward D. "Eddie" Brungardt, 73, died Friday, March 25, 2011, at Hays Medical Center. He was born June 19, 1937, in Salina to Edgar F. and Lydia (Staab) Brungardt.

He was a 1955 graduate of Victoria High School, attended Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Fort Hays College, Hays, and graduated from Colorado School of Banking, Boulder, Colo.

He married Betty (Dreiling) on Nov. 21, 1981, in Victoria.

He was bank president for 13 years at Farmers National Bank, Victoria, a car salesman at Great Plains Chrysler and Standish Ford, both of Hays, and a medical courier for the last 11 years. He served in Kansas National Guard from 1956 to 1961. He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both of Victoria.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Eddie F. Brungardt, Towanda, and fiance, Brenda Conner, Ben Wheeler, Texas; two daughters, Kaylene Balint, Carrollton, Texas, and Karen Wellbrock and husband, Chris, Benton; a brother, Frank C. Brungardt and wife, Twila, Victoria; three sisters, Almeda Hoffman, St. John's, Victoria, Rosie Schulte and husband, Denis, and Betty Basgall, all of Victoria; his mother-in-law, Mary Louise Dreiling, Victoria; and four grandchildren, Erika Balint, Ciara Wellbrock, Kyle Wellbrock, and Katelyn Wellbrock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brother-in-laws, Melvin "Mef" Gross, Albert Hoffman, Al Basgall, and Frank Dreiling; and his father-in-law, Herbert F. "Herb" Dreiling.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Monday, both at Cline's Mortuary, 412 Main Victoria, KS 67671. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. today, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the mortuary. A class of 1955 rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, in care of the funeral home.
