Almeda Hoffman, 87, Victoria, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Via Christi Village Care Center, Hays. She was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Victoria to Edgar F. and Lydia (Staab) Brungardt.

She married Albert R. "Al" Hoffman on April 21, 1950, in Victoria. He preceded her in death April 4, 2008.

She and her husband owned and operated Hoffman's Dry Goods in Victoria for 40 years. In her early years, she worked at Farmers National Bank at Walker Air Force Base. She was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and Christian Mothers, all of Victoria.

Survivors include a son, Don Hoffman and wife, Gretta, Hays; a brother, Frank C. Brungardt, Victoria; two sisters, Rosie Schulte and husband, Denis, and Betty Basgall, all of Victoria; three sisters-in-law, Betty Brungardt and Kathryn Hoffman, both of Hays, and Leona Hoffman, Overland Park; three grandchildren, Lee Hoffman, Lindsay Hachenberg and husband, Glen, and Scott Hoffman; and four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Morgan and Alexandra Hachenberg, and Jace Hoffman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward "Eddie" Brungardt; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Gross and Al Basgall; and a sister-in-law, Twila Brungardt.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a Daughters of Isabella/Christian Mothers rosary at 7:30 p.m., all at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to St. Fidelis Charitable Fund or Thomas More Prep-Marian High School in care of the mortuary.
