Victoria -- Lydia Brungardt, 78, died Monday, Aug. 31, at her home in Victoria. A life resident of Ellis County, she was born Aug. 19, 1903 at Catherine, the daughter of Carl J. and Pauline (Schmidt) Staab.

She married Edgar F. Brungardt Oct. 7, 1923; he died Sept. 18, 1954 [s/b 1964].

She was a member of D of I, Christian Mothers, Ladies Auxiliary and St. Francis Franciscan Secular Order.

Survivors inlcude two sons, Frank C. and Edward D., both of Victoria; three daughters, Mrs. Albert (Almeda) Hoffman, Mrs. Denis (Rose Marie) Schulte and Mrs. Al (Betty) Basgall, all of Victoria; eight sisters, Sister Carita Staab, C.F.A. and Sister Paulita Staab, C.F.A., both of Nazareth Heights, Wis., Mrs. Bertha Meder, Albuquerque, N.M., Irene Staab, Mrs. Robert (Edba) McCall, Mrs. Glenn (Pauline) Ehler and Mrs. Lewis (Viloa) Emery, all of Denver, and Mrs. Conrad (Kathryn) Hoffman, Hays; one brother, Al, Topeka; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in the church cemetery.
