The life of Halsey Higginson came to a close at Carmi Township Hospital on December 24, ending a rich full life, one filled with love and friendship for his fellowman. Being a lifetiime resident of White County and living most of his life in and around Crossville, he was a pillar in the community. Halsey was the son of George Fred and Mollie Higginson, born February 7, 1897. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Hon and this happy union was blessed with the following children: Helen, Mary, Gene, Anna Ruth, William, Rita and Wayne. After 42 years of sharing each other's joy and sorrow, Myrtle was called home. He gave of himself and had compassion for others, welcoming Lester Pfleuger into his home and considered him as a second son. He was a firm believer in the Primitive Baptist belief and although he never united with the church, he was strong in faith and was given grace to bear his burdens with a smile.

His family and home was precious to him and Madeline Wallace Simpson enriched the last 10 years of his life. They were united in marriage July 29 1961. She shared his family and home and they enjoyed many blessings together.

Halsey will be missed to each in a different way: to Madeline as a beloved husband, and to the following children as a precious father: Mrs. Helen Kuykendall, Mrs. Mary Hargrave, Mrs. Rita Jacobs. William Higginson, all of Crossville, Gene Higginson of Farmington, N.M., and Anna Ruth Wiggins of Houma, La. as a dear brother to Mrs. Carrie Hon and a gentle understanding grandfather to 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Halsey was preceded in death by one son, Wayne, and two brothers, Samuel and Halfred. Also surviving are a host of relatives and friends.

Although we will miss him here, heaven will be made brighter and his suffering is over and he is now at peace, basking in the sunshine of the smile of his Lord and Savior.
