Bill's number one joy was being around his family. He also enjoyed manicuring his lawn along with his families lawns. You could find Bill many days, practicing golf at the Carmi Country Club. Bill took almost daily rides in the country and inevitably ended up at his farm where he grew up near Crossville. Bill also enjoyed taking vacations with Sue and their good friends Bud and Judy. Bill was a selfless man who was always helping others while seeking no recognition for himself. Bill was always in a good mood and an encounter with him would brighten your day.
Bill is survived by three sons, Rick (Misty) Higginson of Edmond, OK., David (Missy) Higginson of Carmi, IL.. and Jeff Hamblin of Ft. Branch, IN.; a daughter, Myra (Mark) Hillyard of Carmi, IL.; eight grandchildren, Jake, Samantha, and Lauren Higginson, Paige (Jeff) Davis, Andi Anderson, Dan Anderson, Katie (Kyle) Rynkiewich and Kristie (Clay) Hoskins; and five great-grandchildren, Reece and Reed Rynkiewich, Atlee Hoskins and GiGi and Louie Davis; a brother Gene Higginson of Farmington, NM.; two sisters, Anna Ruth Wiggins of Houma, LA. and Reta Blair of Carmi, IL.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne Higginson and two sisters, Mary Hargrave and Helen Kuykendall.
