Sammie Sue Clevenger, 79, Kansas City, Mo., passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, KCMO. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, at the Chapel. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery, Raytown, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to Red Bridge Christian Church or Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. Sue was born Sept. 5, 1932, in KCMO to parents Samuel L. and Fannie M. (Bottoms) Small. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1949 and has always been involved in Alumni activities. In 1950, she married her High School sweetheart, Wayne E. Clevenger. They had 28 loving years together prior to his death in 1978. She was a lifetime member of Oak Park/ Red Bridge Christian Church, belonging to the CWF for many years. She has been PTA President at each of her children's schools, and was an active Boy Scout and Campfire leader. Sue was employed as a school bus driver for over 20 years. Next to her family, traveling was her passion. In her lifetime, she went to all 50 states, and traveled extensively abroad. A favorite memory was riding a camel in Africa. Our Mom was a wonderful, caring, and loving person. Her greatest legacy is the love she unconditionally gave to her family. We already miss her. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Cathy Howard, Cindy Barrow, and Diane (Keith) Thornton; two sons, Ken (Karen) Clevenger, and David (Stacy) Clevenger; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
