He was born September 19, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Coy Clifford and Nellie Lemonie Dever Chipps.
He was a lumber inspector for Eastern Hardwood Lumber Company.
He lived the majority of his life in Webster County and was formerly of Cleveland, Ohio.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, and will be greatly missed by his wife and children.
David is survived by his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Joyce Gum Chipps; sons, Nicholas (girlfriend, Chelsea, who was like David's daughter) Chipps, Tyler Chipps and Caleb Chipps, all of Hacker Valley; his parents; brother-in-law, Clifford W. (Beth) Gum of Woodstock, Ga.; sister, Diane Betler of Kanawha Head; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Friends may join the family for visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Cosner officiating.
Interment will follow in Hacker Valley Cemetery.
