Funeral services for Obed Burkgren, 84, of Dayton were held Monday, December 15 at 1:30 p.m. The service was conducted by Rev. Delpho Peterson in the Emanuel Lutheran Church. Interment was held in the Dayton Cemetery with arrangements by the Carson Funeral Home.

Mr. Burkgren passed away Friday, December 12 at the Greene County Hospital in Jefferson. He had been in ill health for some time.

During the funeral service vocal selections were presented by Richard Will accompanied by Marie Thomass. Caring for the flowers were Mrs. Walter Jensen and Mrs. Walter Brockman. Bearers were Wilbert Danielson, Raymond Gustafson, Quenten Lundquist, Harris Putzke, Howard Rankin and Don Stewart.

Obed Burkgren was born on a farm southwest of Dayton on Novmber 28, 1885. He lived there until 1957 when he and his wife retired and moved into Dayton.

Survivors include the widow, Inez; five sons, Omar of Estherville, Marvin of Oakton, Virginia, Donald of Hampton, Calvin of Dayton and Robert of La Pore City; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Aspholm of Manson, Mrs. Luverne Zoss of Harlan and Mrs. Milton Licht of Humboldt; 23 grandchildren and one brother, Martin of Dayton.
