ELWOOD, Ind. — William K. Davies, 88, of Elwood, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Elwood, to Jenkin J. and Pearl (Hurst) Davies. He worked at Delco Remy in Anderson for 41 years and retired in 1982. He was a 1941 graduate of Elwood High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Jeanne D. Debethune on Nov. 20, 1942. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elwood; and a member of the Quincy Masonic Lodge in Elwood, where he was a past master and treasurer for more than 50 years. Bill was an avid craftsman and enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include three children, Sheila (Bill) Hobson of Elwood, Vicki (Kim) Caldwell of Kokomo, and Bill (Suzanne) Davies of Schaumburg, Ill.; sister, Lucille Barnes of Elwood; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nieces; two nephews; and a special cousin.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Jack Davies; and sister, Velma Porter.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with a Masonic Lodge Memorial Service first followed by the Rev. Cindy Osgood officiating. Entombment will be at the Elwood City Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Vincent Mercy Hospital Foundation or the Shriners Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
