Phoebe Alice Freeze was born October 24, 1851, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, daughter of Michael and Susanna Wetzel Freeze. She married Theodore Nathaniel Eyler on August 11, 1885, in Thurmont. They were the parents of two children, one having died in infancy. The surviving child, Edgar Josiah Eyler, served in World War I, and died in battle in France in 1918. Phoebe passed away on January 11, 1910, in Sykesville, Carroll County, Maryland, and was buried on the 12th in Weller's Cemetery in Thurmont.

"Mrs. Phoebe Alice Eyler, widow of the late Theodore Eyler, of this place, died Tuesday afternoon at Springfield State Hospital for the Insane, Sykesville, Maryland, her death being due to typhoid fever. Mrs.Eyler was a daughter of the late Michael Freeze. She is survived by one son, Mr. Edgar Eyler, now principal of the Graceham Public School,five sisters, Mrs. Josiah Willhide, Mrs. Lewis Keefer, Mrs. Jos. Damuth, Mrs. Henry Hetterly and Mrs. Allen Eyler; one brother, Mr. Jacob Freeze. Funeral services will be held today. Interment in the United Brethren Cemetery. E. E. Black funeral director."
