Julia Susan Freeze was born February 24, 1849, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of Michael and Susanna Wetzel Freeze. On April 1, 1869, she married Josiah Edward Wilhide, also of Thurmont, the son of Henry and Catharine Delphey Wilhide. They were the parents of 10 children: James Franklin, Harry Wilson, Susan Kate, George Washington, Harvey F., Michael Freeze, Linnie May, Nora Mamie, Allen Walter and Grayson Evers Wilhide. Julia passed away on March 19, 1922, in Thurmont, and was buried on the 21st in Weller's Cemetery there.

She is survived by four sons, Frank of Woodsboro; Harry of Sabillasville, George and Michael, of Deerfield; thee daughters, Mrs. Susan Harbaugh of Sabillasville; Mrs. Linnie Brown of New Bethel, and Nora, at home eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is survived also by one brother, Jacob Freeze, and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Hetterly, Mrs. Lewis Keefer, Mrs. Allen Eyler. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the United Brethren Church, Rev. J. I. Green officiating. Interment in the U. B. Cemetery. Wilhide and Creeger funeral directors."
