Danny Lee Proffitt, Sr. age 60 of Red Root Ridge, Virginia, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at his home with family by his side, after a long illness. Born March 11, 1952 in Tazewell County, Virginia he was the son of Pauline Proffitt of Shortt Gap, Virginia and the late Melvin Proffitt. He was a coal miner for 25 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He was ready to help anybody that needed help.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one niece, Kimberly Baldwin.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bonnie Smith Proffitt; three sons, Billy Ball and wife Robin of Red Root Ridge, VA, Danny Lee Proffitt, Jr., of Shortt Gap, VA and Melvin Matthew (Booger) Proffitt and fiancée Amanda Taylor of Shortt Gap, VA; three grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Brent (Bubby) Ball, Brandi (Sissy) Ball and Alex (Tater) Proffitt; three brothers, Jerry Proffitt and wife Teresa of Shortt Gap, VA, Tim Proffitt of Jacksonville, FL and Michael Proffitt and wife Kim of Shortt Gap, VA; three sisters, Sue Lane and husband Jim of Cedar Bluff, VA, Teresa Baldwin and husband David of Raven, VA and Jan Howell and fiancé Greg Browning of Red Ash, VA.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one niece, Kimberly Baldwin.
