Mary Dembeck was born in Poland, the first child of Martin and Agnes Butna Dembeck. She was just a toddler when the family came to America. She married Joseph Kasprzak. In the 1920 U.S. Census, it shows the Kasprzak family has grown to include children, Irene, Leo, Frank and Jennie. Mary's mother, Agnes Dembeck, a 47-year-old widow is also living with the family.
