Martin Dembeck was born Sept. 30, 1863 in Roskov, Poland, son of Franz (Frank) Dembeck and Magdalena Nogaj. He came to America aboard the ship Dresden from Bremen, Germany to Baltimore, Md, arriving in April, 1892. He is 28 years old and accompanied by his wife, 20 year old Agnes Butna Dembeck and their 1-year-old daughter, Maryana. They settled in Milwaukee, where they are listed in the 1900 U. S. Census living on Dousman St. The family has expanded by then, inlcluding children Anna, Frances, John, Cecila and Rose. In 1905, the Wisconsin Census shows the family including Martin, Agnes, and kids John, age 8, Valenty, 4, Joseph, 2, Mary, 14, Anna 13, Frances10; Cecila 8 and Rose, age 6.The family experiences a tragedy when Martin contracts typhoid fever in 1906, He is ill with the disease for three weeks before dying at age 43. According to his death certificate, the family was living at 951 Pierce St.at that time. Martin is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI.
