Mrs. Clara Mitchell of Allen, daughter of Mrs. Chris Hansen of Creighton, was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery at Creighton Thursday, Dec. 20. She passed away following an illness of about a year. Her death occurred one day before her 64th birthday anniversary. Funeral services were conducted at the Allen Methodist Church Thursday with Rev. K.O. Zavadil in charge and the body was brought to Creighton for burial.
Clara Angela Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Hansen, was born Dec. 19, 1887 at Dixon, where she spent the early years of her life. She was united in marriage to Benjamin H. Mitchell on March 4, 1908. To this union were born two sons and one daughter, Marvin B. Mitchell of Allen, Frances V. Mitchell, who preceded her mother in death and Benjamin H. Mitchell of Washington, D.C.
In 1916 the family moved to Allen, where they resided for several years. On Feb. 26, 1922 Mrs. Mitchell joined the Allen Methodist Church and took an active part in the affairs of the church.
In 1933 she moved to Sioux City, Ia., where she spent the rest of her life except for about two years which she again spent in Allen. About a year ago she became seriously ill and passed away Dec. 18.
Surviving are her two sons; her mother, Mrs. Chris Hansen; four brothers, Louie of Walnut, George of Bloomington, Ill., Ray of Bloomfield and Edward of Portland, Ore. (Remainder of obit is torn away)
