Funeral Held Friday for Lewis Hansen, 78

Lewis A. Hansen, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital. He had been ill for more than a year, having broken a hip and suffered a stroke a year ago this past summer.

Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Waldo Pierson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bernard Montgomery, Francis Montgomery, Arden Laursen, Bernard Butterfield, Albert Derickson and Lawrence Kumm.

Lewis Arthur Hansen was born Jan. 26, 1891 to Chris and Antomine Larsen Hansen at Dixon.

He married Victoria Thierolf at Center on July 11, 1917. Five children were born to them.

As a young man he moved from Dixon to near Creighton. He lived in Knox County all of his married life, except for 10 years at Star in Holt County. He farmed all his life until retiring in 1958 and moving into Creighton.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Brotherhood. The Hansens observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1967.

Surviving are his widow; five children, Mrs. Fred A. (Helen) Sukup of Cozad, Wm. E. Hansen of O'Neill. Mrs. Ernie (Doris) Grosskop of Orchard, Mrs. Phil (Ardis) Swanson of Tecumseh and Mr. Don L. (Joyce) Lantz of Fremont; 17 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Karen Swain and Mrs. Edna Laughlin of Kansas City, Mo. and two brothers, Ray Hansen of Bloomfield and
Edward Hansen of Portland, Ore.

His parents, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
