David William Adamson, Jr., died August 3, 1998, at his home in Lehi, Utah. He was 86 years old.

He was born August 31, 1911 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to David William and Sarah Elizabeth Hawkes Adamson. He married his eternal sweetheart and companion Arlene C. Phillips from Lehi on September 2, 1932 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died July 17, 1994.

He lived at various times in Salt Lake City, Richfield, Draper, Taylor, West Weber and South Salt Lake. His final home for many years was Lehi, Utah. His life was devoted to his family, his church, and his community. He served in many callings in his church including serving in Bishoprics in South Salt Lake and Lehi Wards, Stake Superintendent of mutual and sunday school organizations, and many scouting positions. He was an Eagle Scout. Prior to his marriage he worked at Auerbachs Department Store in Salt Lake City where he met his wife. He worked for many years for Paramount and Warner Brothers on film row in Salt Lake City. He was elected as City Councilman for South Salt Lake and was a member of the Lions Club. He also worked for many years for the State Bank of Lehi during which time he served as President of the Utah County Bankers Association. He was a Chairman for the Lehi United Way fund drive.

He had a life long love for music and was a member of the Orpheus Club, LDS and Swanee Singers, and sang in many male choruses and quartets. He and Arlene served an LDS Mission in the Michigan, Lansing Mission and was a temple worker in the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples.

He is survived by one son, Elder David P. (Sister Alice Jean) Adamson, serving in the Chicago Temple; three daughters, Clarene A. (Donald) Myrup, American Fork; Diana (Rodney) Fakatou, Holladay; Linda (Larry) Hadfield, Lehi; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, Julia Adamson, LuDean (George) McGrath, Maudella A. Hepworth, and Nathan W. Adamson, all of Salt Lake City area; many nephews and nieces.

Preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, and one grandchild.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 7, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, 118 E. Main, Lehi, where friends may call Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
