Imogene Clare Loreman, age 94, of Stromsburg, Nebraska passed away June 14, 2012 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Dan Spearow officiating. Visition was Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 at the church. Pallbearers were Scott Blasi, Marc Blasi, Christopher Blasi, Benjamin Verdine, Kurth DeLand, Timm Waller, Willis Waller and Chris Young. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Peetzke and Joshua Loreman. Interment was in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola had been entrusted with arrangements.
Imogene was born July 22, 1917 to James Leroy and Martha Mae Hurd. She attended the country school, Liberty and after graduating from 8th grade she attended high school in Stromsburg and graduated in 1935. Imogene then attended Kearney Normal School where she received her teaching certificate. She began teaching in the country school Dist. 43 in Polk County. She then began teaching at Liberty Dist. 25 where she had previously been a student. While teaching at Dist. 25 she was able to stay with her parents.
On May 22, 1940 she was united in marriage to Everett Tilden Loreman at her father's farm. To this union three children were born. They resided on a farm east of Benedict and in 1942 they moved to Omaha for a year where Everett was employed as a meat inspector. They then moved back to Benedict where they farmed, later moving into Stromsburg in 1965. Over the years Imogene was employed at Nahrstedt's Dime Store in Osceola and worked in the Stromsburg school kitchen. They remained at their home for 39 years until moving to Park Villa in 2002. Everett passed away May 29, 2010. In November of 2011, she moved into the Midwest Covenant Home where she resided until her passing.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, was past president of United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school for several years and served on the church board in several capacities. Imogene was a former Swedish Festival queen. She was also a member of P.E.O., served on the board of the Res-Q Shoppe and helped in the 2nd grade for many years listening to children read.
She was preceded in death by her husband Everett and parents James and Martha Hurd.
