NEWELL, Iowa|-- Kenneth Kinney, 92, of Sac City, Iowa, formerly of Newell, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City.

Kenneth Warren Kinney was born on June 16, 1920, the son of Warren and Mary (Witzke) Kinney on the family farm southeast of Newell. He graduated from the Newell High School. He served in the US Army military police at Fort Des Moines during WWII. Kenneth married Trudy Barnes on September 29, 1945, and to this union two daughters were born, Sandra and Candace. Trudy died March 3, 1973.

Kenneth spent his entire working life on the family farm where he raised cattle, hogs, and grain, eventually achieving Century farm status. He faithfully attended his daughters' school events regardless of the season. He maintained a keen interest in civic activities, serving on the board of the Newell Elevator and the First Congregational Church at different times as well as involvement in other community events. Kenneth was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Newell Legion. He enjoyed farming every day before his retirement, as well as following the New York Yankees, and visiting with his many friends.

On June 14, 1978 Kenneth married Marian (Pedersen) Ellrich, at Congregational Church in Newell.

Kenneth died Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA.

Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents, his first wife Trudy, his brother Norman Kinney, and his sister Lenore Werner.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marian of Sac City, two daughters, Sandra and her husband Kent Renegar of Ankeny, IA, and Candace Chesney of Des Moines, IA, three step-sons; Tom and his wife Sharon Ellrich of Ames. IA, Steven Ellrich of Des Moines, IA, and David and his wife Marlene Ellrich of Olathe, KS, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 7 step-grandchildren.
