Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday May 28, 1999, at St. John St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsville. The Rev. Timothy L. Nommensen will officiate with burial in the West Side Cemetery.
She was born August 6, 1917, daughter of the late Theodore and Pauline Sonnabend. She married Gilbert Engelbrecht on May 23, 1938, at St. John St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Alverta was an active member of the church, and enjoyed crocheting, needlecrafts, flowers, and gardening.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Eve Engelbrecht, Cottage Grove, Wis.; three grandchildren, Wayne R. (Jenifer) Engelbrecht, Sun Prairie, Steven T. Engelbrecht and Kay A. Engelbrecht, both of Cottage Grove; a great granddaughter, Michele Engelbrecht, Sun Prairie; one sister, Delores Zurn, Sebastian, Fla.; one brother, Delbert Sonnabend, Franklin, N.C. Alverta was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; two sons, Wayne, and an infant son; three sisters, Gladys Dreger, Ethel Getzin, and Bernice Denk.
Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home in Reedsville on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
