Elaine L. Behnke, age 83, of Reedsville, died on Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc. She was born on Aug. 27, 1923, in the town of Chilton, daughter of the late Elmer and Holdina (Hahn) Popp.

She married Leonhardt Behnke, Sr. on Oct. 24, 1942, at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. She worked at Humpty Dumpty Eggs for nine years. Elaine enjoyed baking, her flower garden, playing cards and sports, especially attending Reedsville girls basketball games. She was a member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville; served as president of the Ladies Aid; and was a member of the Reedsville Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons: Leonhardt, Jr. (Susan) Behnke and Michael Behnke, all of Reedsville; two sons-in-law: David Endries of St. Nazianz; Jerry Runice of Berlin; 10 grandchildren: Tom Behnke, Todd (Angie) Behnke, Troy (Nicole) Behnke, Jenny Endries, Kristine Endries, Jeremey Endries, Josh, Matt, Zach and Traci Behnke; two great-grandchildren: Alex and Owen Behnke; a brother: Bill (Lucille) Popp of Townsend; and many other relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 24, 1995; two daughters: Mary Ann Behnke-Runice; Beverly Endries; a son-in-law: Rodney Behnke; a brother: Elmer Popp; and a sister-in-law: Elsie Behnke.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 601 E. National Ave., Brillion. The Rev. Timothy Nommemsen will officiate.

Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

The Wieting Funeral Home, Reedsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
