Herman Edward Lau, 88, of North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc, formerly Reedsville,
passed away Wednesday, February 21, 1990, after a short illness at Memorial
Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John St. James Lutheran Church,
Reedsville. Pastor David Kipsmiller will officiate and burial will be in the West
Side cemetery.
He was born September 15, 1901, in the Town of Rockland, son of the late Robert Sr.
and Eleanore Schroeder Lau. He farmed the Homestead in the Town of Rockland and he
moved to Reedsville in 1985. He married Huldina Behnke, September 20, 1925, at St.
John St. James, Reedsville. The couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in
1986. Mr. Lau was a member of St. John St. James. He also served on the church
council for several terms.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Dorcella of Reedsville;
four grandchildren (private); a sister, Frieda Soviech of rural Reedsville; a
brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Viola Behnke of rural Reedsville. He was preceded
in death on January 8, 1988, by his wife, Huldina, four sisters and six brothers.
Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home, Reedsville, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and
from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and then from 11 a.m. until the time of
services at the church.
