Paul Vernon Adkisson
(July 31, 1928 - June 16, 2012)

Age 83 years, 10 months and 15 days, a resident of East Prairie, passed away Saturday June 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born July 31, 1928 in Mississippi County to the late Rudolph and Alice Tanner Adkisson, Paul lived most of his life in East Prairie he was a retired Federal Grain Inspector and was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie. He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge #407 in Charleston and also a 32nd degree Scottish Rites. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. On May 17, 1947 he married Ruth Ellen Estes who preceded in death on August 26, 2002.

He is survived by one son and -in-law, Rex & Debbie Adkisson of East Prairie; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula & Jim Mann of Maumelle, Arkansas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ralph Adkisson of Charleston, Joe Adkisson and Bill Adkisson both of East Prairie; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dean & Richard Yount and Sue & Leo Martin both of East Prairie; five grandchildren, Shane, Dawn, Jason, Brian and Stephanie; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and many friends.

Besides his wife and parents, two brothers, Jerry Adkisson and Jack Adkisson; and one sister, Thelma Lieberman preceded him in death.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Masonic Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday by the Charleston Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Shelby Chapel with his grandson Bro. Shane Adkisson and his brother Bro. Bill Adkisson officiating. Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery with Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jason Mann, Gary Adkisson, David Adkisson, Brad Keck, Jon Hutcheson and Brian Mann.
