Obituary:
Glenn Frederick Hult-quist, 87, of Burlington died at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Great River Medical Center-Klein Center in Burlington.
Born April 13, 1921, in Swedesburg, he was the son of Fred and Lillian Sandeen Hultquist. On Aug. 9, 1970, he married Lois W. Schmupper Buffington in Prairie Grove.
Mr. Hultquist farmed. He was an insurance salesman and worked as a welder at General Electric in Burlington. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 626 in Olds and Old Thresher's and Midwest Central Railroad. He was a 50-year member of Counselor Boy's State and a member of American Ex-Prisoners of War, Shutter Bug Camera Club, Art Guild, Bell Canto Chorale and Swedesburg and Messiah Choirs. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; one brother, J. Bernard Hultquist of Olds; one stepdaughter, Luan Watkins of Gurnee, Ill.; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Visitation with family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington.
The funeral for Mr. Hultquist will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington with the Rev. Peg Casper officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Swedesburg Cemetery in Swedesburg.
Memorials have been established for Messiah Lutheran Church, Swedesburg Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 626 in Olds.
