Fredrick L. Hultquist passed away early Sunday morning, August 26, 1973 at the Henry County Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Ia. He had been seriously ill for the past four weeks.
The son of John P. and Emma (Johnson) Hultquist, he was born October 22, 188? in Swedesburg, Ia.
Most of his life was spent in the Swedesburg vicinity where he farmed prior to his retirement.
On January 29, 1920 he was married to Lillian O. Sandeen at the home of the bride's parents near Swedesburg.
He served in World War I, was a lifetime member of the Swedesburg Lutheran Church; life member of American Legion Post No. 626 of Olds, and in 1969 was named an Old Thresher at the Midwest Old Settlers & Threshers Association.
Survivors include his wife of Swedesburg; two sons, Glenn F. of Burlington and J. Bernard of rural Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Mrs. John (Josephine) Green of Canyon, Tex.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Paul R. of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Leslie of Swedesburg.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Pastor Delmar Carstens officiated at funeral services at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 1973 at Swedesburg Lutheran Church. Barton - McKasson Funeral Home was in charge.
Organist was Mrs. Duayne Benson and soloist, William Tolander. Casket bearers were Eric Hultquist, Robert W. Johnson, Paul Harms, Duayne Hultquist, Gilbert Swenson, and Carl Sandeen.
Interment was at Swedesburg Cemetery, Swedesburg, Ia.
Olds American Legion Post No. 626 provided a Military Honor Guard.
