Funeral services for James M. Bertschinger, 59, of Amboy, Ill., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy. The Rev. Christine Stienstra, pastor of the Amboy Immanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate. Born April 30, 1945, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., the son of Wilbert and Agnes (nee Delcorps) Bertschinger, he died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, in the University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago. Burial will be in Prairie Repose Cemetery, Amboy. James was employed as a group leader at Casting Impregnators, Inc. in Skokie for 20 years prior to his retirement. He married Jacki Brabender in Pestigo, Wis., on Oct. 26, 1973. He enjoyed his new home in rural Amboy, which he called his Ponderosa on the hill. He is survived by his wife, of Amboy, his son, Andrew James Bertschinger of Bartlett; his daughter Elizabeth Bertschinger of Bartlett; his special daughter, Sharon "Twiggy" Rogers of Elgin; his brothers, John Bertschinger of California and Richard (Marlene) Bertschinger of Milwaukee; his sisters, Barbara (Wayne) Mueller of New Berlin, Wis., Ann (Charles) Goss of Northbrook, Mary Bertschinger of Evanston and Jane (Thomas) Bertschinger-Jackson of Prairie Du Sac, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Saturday, at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
