Dorothy 'Sweetney' Ellis
Funeral services for Dorothy "Sweetney" Ellis, 66, of Frankston were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Mount Olive Baptist Church of Frankston with the Rev. Lonnie Ross officiating.

Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.

Mrs. Ellis died Friday, June 4, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born Jan. 23, 1938, in Frankston, and attended Carver High School and Prairie View A&M University.

Mrs. Ellis lived in California for more than 30 years where she retired from Los Angeles public school system. She lived in Frankston for the last eight and one-half years, and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Isaac Ellis; sons, Romel Ellis of Longview, Carnester Ellis, Glen Ellis and David Ellis, all of California; daughters, Dionne Ellis of California, and Debra Lewis of Frankston; brothers, Joe L. Burks and Oscar Burks, both of Frankston, and James Burks of Athens; a sister, Vernell Yepp of Hempstead; and 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Romel Ellis, David Ellis, Carnester Ellis, Myschal Stafford, Glen Ellis, James "Pete" Burks, Renard and Kirk Burks.

Honorary pallbearers were Oscar "Cheetah" Burks, Frank Yepp, Joe L . Burks, Kenny Yepp, James Burks, Ramsey Flower, Joe N. Reed II and Emmanual Lewis.
