CLINTON, Dec. 28 - Abram B. Matthews, 65, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Wofford, near Columbia after several years of declining health. He was a native of Florence County but had made his home in Laurens county for 37 years. He was a member of the Baptist church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Jackson Matthews, one son, B. W. Matthews; five daughters, Mrs. C. L. Blease, Mrs. J. H. Jacks, Mrs. K. C. Morekis, Mrs. J. N. Creswell, and Mrs. Clarence P. Wofford. Also by two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Matthews and Miss Vermell Matthews; also by two half brothers and six half sisters, 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Calvary Baptist church. Rev. W. B. Thorn in charge. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Until the hour of the service the body will be at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. L. Blease, Sloan street, Clinton.
The following will serve as pallbearers: A. B. Jacks, Frank Jacks, Alva Ealy, Robert Blease, Arthur Davis and David Owens.
