Clarence was born to Charles and Maude McIntire in Clay Co., Iowa and moved with his family to a farm near Bertha in Todd Co., MN as a child. He graduated from Bertha High School in 1928 and was married to Mildred Froehlich in 1936 at Bertha. He farmed with his parents and worked for area implement dealerships until 1942 when he went to Duluth, MN welding at the shipyard during WW II. They returned to Bertha in 1945 and farmed. In 1948 they moved to Florence, SD, where he was an electrician, hooking electricity up from the new REA lines in the area. In 1953, they moved to Tolstoy, SD and farmed until 1959 when they purchased a farm near Leola, SD. The family farmed there until his retirement in 1971. After retirement they remained on the farm and spent winters in Brownsville, Texas. In 1987, Mildred passed away and Clarence moved to Pierre to be near two of his children. He entered Maryhouse in 1990.
Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing and telling jokes. He was active at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leola. He is survived by 1 daughter and 4 sons and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 3 brothers, Joe, Wayne and Howard.
