MUNCIE--James Edwin Boggs, 88, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2012, at Willowbend Living Center.

Edwin was born on March 16, 1924 in Randolph County to Samuel Plummer and Hilda Irene (Garringer) Boggs. He attended Royerton schools and graduated from Selma High School in 1942. Edwin married June Berry on May 27, 1944; in July 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters during World War II.

Returning from the service in 1946, he and June established their home on Riggin Road and farmed until retirement in 1986. Life after farming was filled with traveling in their van and camper, wintering in Florida and Texas, and organizing family gatherings.

As officers of the Friendly Steppers Square Dance Club, they met many new friends at their Saturday night dances. Eddie and June enjoyed square dancing, golfing, bowling, camping, and playing cards with their friends when they weren't spoiling their grandchildren. He was a board member of Farm Bureau and a member of Moose Lodge #33.

Survivors include his wife, June (Berry) Boggs; two daughters; two sons; six grandchildren; a sister; and two brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Keith Boggs.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Maxville, with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary, Washington Street Chapel, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
