William M. Soderholm, 74, of 1515 Bush St., Red Wing, died Monday morning at St. John's Hospital.

The son of Anna and Carl Soderholm,he was born in Red Wing Feb. 5, 1897, and lived his entire life in Red Wing.

Following his schooling, he entered the military service, serving in the Field Artillery as a 2nd Lt., January 14, 1917 to March 11, 1919. He had been employed at S.B.Foot Tanning Company until retiring in 1963, was a member of the American Legion, a former member of Co. L and was a present member of World War 1 Barracks. He was married to Anna M. Carlson December 8, 1950, in Iowa.

Surviving are his wife, two step-sons, James of Rockford, Ill., and Jone of Hammond, Ind.; nine step-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. A.G. {Ellen} Nelson of Red Wing; three brothers, Col. Nels L. Soderholm of Corpus Christi, Texas, Axel O. Soderholm of Woodburn, Oregon, and Theodore G. Soderholm of Salem, Oregon and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, one sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, the Rev. A.B. Walfrid officiating. Envaultment will be at Oakwood.

Friends may call at Bodelson Funeral Home, Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 11:30 to the hour of the services. --Obituary from the Red Wing Daily Republican Eagle November 30, 1971
