Ellen N. Nelson, 89, formerly of Jordan Tower II, died this morning at St. John's Hospital. She had been a patient at the Red Wing Seminary Memorial Home since August.

Born July 6, 1893, in Red Wing, she was the daughter of Carl and Anna Soderholm. She attended Red Wing schools and graduated from Red Wing Business College.

She married Alf G. Nelson June 1, 1918 in Red Wing. He died September 1, 1969.

She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of First Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis R. Carlson of Iowa City, Iowa; three sons, Philip Marvin of Northfield, Harold G. of Richfield and Arnold of Red Wing; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, N. L. Soderholm of Corpus Christi, Texas, Axel of Woodburn, Ore., and Chad of Salem, Ore.

In addition to her husband, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald Roberts officiating. Envaultment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 p.m to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bodelson Funeral Home and at the church Thursday from noon until the service. --Obituary from the Red Wing Daily Republican Eagle February 8, 1983
