Private Theron B. Winston
Served with Co. D 9th Virginia Inf. CSA during the Civil War of 1861-65 He was discharged for wounds in 1863 (Shot through right lung.) He swore allegiance to the Union and headed out west to Carson City Nevada to look for a new life where the dry air helped his damaged lung. By 1866 he was married to Mrs Mary Ellen Stewart Curry (Widow of Abe Curry's son ) He was also the owner/operator of "Winstons New Exchange Saloon." He died Dec. 18th 1881 at age 43 due to complication of his old war wound & pneumonia and was laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. Section of the Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City NV. Mary must have moved away after his death as her name doesn't appear in the Carson Co. burial records.
