Obituary of Mrs. Jessie L. (Deshong) Hess: Mrs. Jessie (Deshong) Hess, widow of the late Frank Hess of near Andover, this county died December 29, 1941 at her home in that place at the age of 60 years, 2 months, and 19 days.
Surviving are the following children: Charles E. Hess and Jobe W. Hess and one daughter Hetty N. Spies, all of Andover. Eleven grandchildren also survive. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Riley DeShong of Sipes Mill, Mrs. Maggie Souders. of Ft. Loudon, Mrs. May Hess, Mrs. Ella Swope, Mrs. Blanche Hollenshead all of Needmore, R.D. #1, Mrs. Rose Mellott of Andover and Mrs. Sadie Mellott, somewhere in the Western States. One son Herman Hess and one daughter Emma Hess and a sister to the deceased woman, Mrs. Myrtle Strait, all preceded Mrs. Hess in death.
A faithful member of the Christian church for many years, she enjoyed a wide circle of friends.
Burial was made in the Sideling Hill Christian church cemetery on January 1, 1942. Rev. Thomas Bambling officiated at the church services.
