Buanita McWhorter Jones (1919 - 2012)

Buanita McWhorter Jones, 92, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Buanita was born Aug. 24, 1919, to William Henry McWhorter and Cora Ethel McWhorter in Grayson County. She graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1937 and continued her education at the University of North Texas where she proudly earned her bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in language/learning difficulties. Buanita taught elementary school in Ellis County, Jack County and Tarrant County, and retired from the Birdville school district in 1985 after teaching at Richland Elementary for 19 years. She married "AE" Jones on Dec. 4, 1943. Her family was her most cherished possession and showered them with her love and affection. She pursued many hobbies, but none were as rewarding to her as her family. She never met a stranger, always spoke her mind and was known for her sense of humor, infectious laugh and her love for vanilla ice cream. Buanita was preceded in death by her husband, Ambruss Edwin "AE" Jones Jr., in 2006; a daughter, Edwina Barbara Jones Martin, in 2010; and granddaughter, Robin Lyn Martin, in 1974.

Survivors: Daughter, Olivia Eythel Jones Boswell of North Richland Hills; grandsons, Jim Boswell and wife, Dara, of Granbury and Donny Martin and wife, Emily, of Keller; brother, William McWhorter and wife, Shirley, of Nacogdoches; great-grandson, Christopher Boswell of Granbury; great-granddaughters, Macee and Maloree Martin of Keller; and a host of other family and friends who adored her.
