MICHAEL "MIKE" CAIRNS, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 in Riverside, California, his home of 32 years. He was born in Huntington Park, California, November 25, 1944, the son of William G. and Wanda J. (Childs) Cairns.
Mike spent his childhood in South Gate, CA where he graduated from South Gate High School in the class of 1962. He attended both East Los Angeles Community College and the University of Southern California he later served 7 years in the United States Marine Corps. Reserve.
After careers in both banking and automotive sales & management, Michael returned to college and proudly earned his Bachelor's degree in Information Systems from California Baptist University in 2000. He subsequently worked in database management and technology services for the Press-Enterprise, the Norco, Ontario, Pomona Mitsubishi Group, Kay Auto Sales and many other automobile dealers in the Inland Empire. He enjoyed computer games, race cars and was an avid golfer.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Susan; Loving children, Jennifer Cairns, Erin Nordholm her husband Tim and Kelly Cairns; Precious granddaughters, Brytini Sinclair and Sophie Nordholm; Cherished mother, Wanda Cairns and is also survived by his dear sister Susan Risley her husband Bob; aunt, Bonnie Knight and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael was preceded in death by his father, William Cairns, aunt, Elenore Gasdia and uncle, John "Jack" Cairns.
Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 38885 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA 90604.
Memorial Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the "Grace Chapel" of Grimes-Akes Family Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Kowalski, officiating.
