Member Of Fair Board Dies After Extended Illness
LISBON, March 14, -- Jacob Ellsworth Rice , one of Columbiana County's most prominent farmers, succumbed in Salem City Clinic Saturday after an extended illness. He resided in Wayne Township.
Mr. Rice was 75 and for the last 25 years was a member of the county fair board. He was interested in numerous agricultural activities and at his death was on the board of directors of the County Federal Farm Loan Association, a charter member of the Wayne Township Grange and the Columbiana County Farm Bureau.
He was born in Wayne township on Feb. 9, 1863, the son of Anthony and Margaret Hill Rice. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church and the Odd Fellows Lodge here.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Allie Walters (Walter) Rice, two sons, Walter and Donald at home, and two brothers, John Rice of Salineville, and James Rice of Highlandtown.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 with Rev. J. M. Cameron, pastor, in the U. P. church. Interment will follow in the mausoleum of Lisbon cemetery. Friends may call tonight between 7 and 9 at the Eells mortuary.
