BIRTH, PARENTS, AND SIBLINGS
When Stanley Leo Bishop was born on March 6, 1905, in Portage, Aitkin County, Minnesota, his father, Joseph, was 26 and his mother, Gertrude, was 28. He had a brother and a sister who were born in the USA. He moved with his parents to Canada in 1909. There, he had two brothers and a sister. He attended high school in Canada for three years.
RETURN MIGRATION
In 1934 Stanley crossed the Canadian border into the USA by himself.
OCCUPATIONS
At the time of return to the USA, Stanley reported that he was a Timekeeper (and Stanley's worksite was not reported in the Border Crossing document). He made his way to Michigan, and then worked first, as a Plasterer, and secondly, as a Painter, according to a phone directory and a census report.
MILITARY EXPERIENCE
He enlisted in the Army on April 10, 1942, and he was honorably discharged on July 18, 1942 according to BIRLS miliary record and his draft card.
LATER RESIDENCES AND OCCUPATIONS
Stanley lived with his parents in 1950 in Washtenaw County, Michigan, according to Census 1950. He probably moved in early 1952 with his parents to Texas. US Phone Directories reported the following occupations: Inspector (1955), Foreman (1958), and Tool & Die Maker (1959). He was living in Temple, Texas, when his father died in 1866 and when his mother died in 1970. His sister, Ethel (Bishop) Borg was the Informant for his certificate of death, and she reported that Stanley's last occupation was as a Laborer for a steel company.
MARITAL STATUS
He was single all his life.
DEATH
His certificate of death reported that he died at the Dallas-Ft Worth Medical Center on March 26, 1984.
BURIAL
Stanley Leo Bishop was buried in Arlington, Texas. His parents had already been buried in the same cemetery. His sister Ethel, and her husband, Ed Borg, were later buried there.
