Howard Vander Weele, 69, of 3325 North Ave., died unexpectedly and peacefully, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. Vander Weele was born Aug. 24, 1927in Sheboygan, to the late John and Lena Gabrielse Vander Weele. He attended Sheboygan Christian Grade School and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1945.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii.
On May 16, 1952, he married Miss Beatrice Buteyn of Sheboygan at First Christian Reformed Church.
He was employed as a residential carpenter and retired in 1989, continuing to do carpentry work up until the present time.
Howard was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, previously served as a deacon, building committee member, usher and a teacher in the church's Friendship Club.
Survivors are his wife, Beatrice; two daughters, Jean (Bill) Wilke, Sheboygan; Joan (David) Broene, Allendale, Mich. and two sons, Jack H. (Debra Rindt) Vander Weele and Jay (Cindy Mullikin) Vander Weele, Sheboygan; further survived by ten grandchildren, Erin and Laurel Wilke, Angela, Allen and Amanda Broene, Corey, Hannah, Chloe, Vanessa and Taylor Vander Weele; two sisters, Gertrude Gabrielse and LaVerne Soerens, Oostburg and one brother, Wesley (Char) Vander Weele, Sheboygan; a sister-in-law Edna Buteyn, Sheboygan, two sisters-in-law, Carol (Bob) Dekker, Sheboygan; Doris (John) Jacobson, of Texas, a brother-in-law, Art (Doris) Buteyn, Sheboygan, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and John and a sister, Margaret.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, at 6 p.m. at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. John Olthoff will officiate. The burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 3 p.m. Thursday, until the time of services.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Vander Weele's name.
