ALVESTEFFER, MR. GILBERT L. Whitehall
Mr. Gilbert L. Alvesteffer, age 84, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012. He was born November 5, 1927, in Weare Township, Oceana County, to Joseph and Florence (Ziegler) Alvesteffer. On July 16, 1949, in Weare, he married the former Clara B. Pearson. Mrs. Alvesteffer preceded him in death on July 9, 2011. Mr. Alvesteffer worked for General Telephone Co. for over 30 years, starting as an installer and retiring as a supervisor. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law, Sidney Moseler. FAMILY: His children, Candace (Larry) Pider of Whitehall, Tom (Kathy) Alvesteffer of Whitehall, Steve (Lorianne) Alvesteffer of Vernon, VT, Becky (Mike) Stout of Twin Lake, Annette (Leonard) Hilton of Pentwater, Kris Moseler of Hudsonville, Jim Alvesteffer (Shelley MacDonald) of Rockford, and Lora (Craig) Derks of Spring Lake; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; seven sisters; one brother.
FUNERAL LITURGY: Monday, May 21, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at St. James Catholic Church, 5179 Dowling St., Montague, with the Rev. Fr. Donn P. Tufts presiding. Interment will be made in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Montague. VISITING TIME: Sunday, 2-4 PM, at Clock Funeral Home, 413 S. Mears Ave., Whitehall. A VIGIL SERVICE will be held, at the funeral home, Sunday, beginning at 3:30 PM.
