Hugo Tieken Dies Monday Funeral Tuesday

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Robertson and Seydler Funeral chapel for Hugo William Tieken, well known Gonzales county farmer, who passed away at his home at Stieren at 2:30 o'clock Monday morning.
Rev. Elmer Heirholter of San Antonio and Rev. W. Wolf of the Lutheran church will conduct the service. Robert Breitschopf, Henry Tieken, Max Krause, Byran Orts, Harry Schieberle, and Adolph Klein will assist as pallbearers. Interment will be in the W.O.W. cemetery.
Mr. Tieken, who had been ill for some time, was 40 years, 4 months and 23 days of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Tieken , one son Hugo Tieken, Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Rosie Tieken; two sisters, Mrs. Katy Bruns and Mrs. Alma Bruns and six brothers, Charlie, Willie Robert, Walter, Bennie and Otto Tieken.
Mr. Tieken was a life long resident of this county, havinf been born June 25, 1900 in Gonzales county. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tieken both natives of Germany.
He was engaged in farming and had been a faithful member of the Methodist church for 22 years.

Hugo Tieken

In beautiful and impressive services held Tuesday afternoon, Hugo Tieken prominent resident of the Stieren section, was laid to rest, with hundreds of grieving friends and relatives from all sections of the county gathered to pay a last tribute to him.
One of the largest crowds ever assembled for a funeral here gathered at the Robertson and Seydler funeral chapel, where last rites were held, and accompanied the body to the W.O.W. cemetery, where after short but impressive services, Mr. Tieken was laid to rest.
At both the chapel and the cemetery, profusions of beautiful floral offerings were tributes of the love and respect for Mr. Tieken by all who knew him.
Rev. W. Wolf, Rev. E. J. Hierholzer of San Antonio, and Rev. K. C. Miller conducted t he services, with Rev. Hierholzer bringing an aspiring message of hope and sympathy to those gathered for the services. Rev. Wolf led in prayer. Rev. Minter gave the scripture readings at the chapel and the committal at the cemetery.
At the chapel and at the cemetery, a choir composed of Mrs. Charles Holmes, Misses Martha and Hilda Barron, Mrs. William Barron, Berry Davis, W. F. Witt, and Otto Ehrig, sang a number of songs.
Pall bearers were Robert Breitschopf, Henry Tieken, Max Krause, Byran Orts, Harry Schieberle, and Adolph Klein.
