The world has lost an amazing lady. Jane Johnson Averett passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family, into the arms of her sweetheart Bud and daughter Susan on May 9, 2012. Jane was born September 27, 1929 in Spanish Fork, Utah, to John Karl and Vessa Hood Johnson, and was proud of her Icelandic heritage. She was raised in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School.
Jane married Bud Weight Averett on March 27, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They made their home in Springville and everyone felt welcome there. She was loved by the students at Springville High School where she worked as a lunch lady for many years.

Jane loved music, dolls, and kissing babies. She was an avid supporter of her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids in all they did from ballgames (she was a true Red devil) to dance recitals. She was their biggest fan. She enjoyed camping and family reunions. She knew how to have a good time and was the life of any party.

Jane was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings, but serving in the Primary with the children was her favorite. Jane lived her testimony in words and actions. She was a true example of Christ-like love and was known for her kindness and compassionate service to everyone. She was happiest when giving service to others.

She is survived by her children John (Karen), Steven (Nanette), Tammy Oakey, Mark (Brenda), son-in-law Ross Riding, sisters Lois Shepherd and Mary Bylund, brother John K. Johnson, 25 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband Bud, daughter Susan, brother Dean, sisters Kay Johnson and Lynette Reynolds, and great grandson Shawn Lee Fowkes.

Everyone who knew Jane will forever be touched by her kindness and genuine concern.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 11:00 am in the LDS Chapel at 860 East 200 North, Springville, Utah. Family and friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville, and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church prior to funeral services. Her interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
