Viola was born January 10, 1922, in Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Matthew and Jeanette (Vande Kieft) Tuinstra. She was raised and educated in Pella through her middle school years until their family moved to Marshalltown. Viola went on to graduate from the Marshalltown High School in 1939. Viola was united in marriage to Arthur N. Browne on October 19, 1941, in Princeton, Missouri.
Throughout her lifetime Viola was a wonderful, loving, mother and homemaker to her family and extended family. She also managed the accounting and bookkeeping for their family's plumbing and heating business for several years. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, good TV movies, game shows and crocheting. Viola also spent many hours caring for their family horses on the farm. Viola was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marshalltown and was a participant in the "Wednesday Wonders" coffee group.
Viola is survived by her daughter Janice Browne of Marshalltown, her brother Donald (Erma) Tuinstra of Pella, her niece Linda Eastman of Marshalltown and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur, her sisters: Mildred (Kenny) Slagle and Arlene (Donald) Moes.
