He was born in Pulaski County on May 20, 1898, son of the late James and Charlotte Johnson VanHoosier. He was a retired farmer.
He was a Sunday school teacher and member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Delmer L. VanHoosier, Somerset; a daughter, Lorene Crawford, London; a brother, Christman VanHoosier, Cincinnati; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie Edith Floyd VanHoosier, whom he married March 25, 1920 in Faubush; two sons, Clinton and Ray VanHoosier; three brother, Enoch, Green, and Isaac VanHoosier; six sisters, Hulda Eastham, Aggie Roberts, Belle Stevens, Martha Wilson, Mary Polston, and Sally VanHoosier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Murrell Crockett officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Gideon Memorial Bible Fund.
