Funeral services for Oakla Viola Parker Messina, 77, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Roger Stoffer officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Messina, a homemaker, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center. She was born July 29, 1934 in Winnsboro, LA to I. D. and Cleo Parker.

Mrs. Messina was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gary Wayne Parker, Willis D. (Corkey) Parker, and Charles M. (Thumb) Parker.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Pete Messina; sisters, Shirley Merrill and husband Tommy of Monroe and Peggy Newman and husband R. S. of Winnsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends

Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or the American Diabetes Foundation.
